Columbia University Airplane Club

Welcome to Columbia's student branch of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. We are mainly concerned with the design and construction of a model aircraft to compete in the AIAA's Design-Build-Fly . This aeronautics contest is highly respected in the field, attracting teams from top engineering schools both nationally and internationally. We design the plane from scratch each year to meet each year's new mission. At the end of they year we fly our team out to the competition site (which will be in Kansas this year) and demonstrate the fruits of a year's worth of labor. We require no experience; we look to have a good time, and learn a lot about airplanes along the way. To join, just stop by at one of our weekly meetings.
